Great, another 2 git commands... I have limited amount of time and I need to decide what I spend it on. I am willing to spend it on testing gerbv. I don't want to run 2 or 3 git commands just to get the sources. If there's a tarball and I can run ./configure && make and concentrate on the actual testing, I'm in. If I need to spend 10..15 minutes petting git and autotools just to get there, I rather spend that time on something else. I know your preferences on this differ. The project doesn't depend on my testing, so I don't see any problem here. And I am not interested in yet another git flamewar, so let's just move on.
