I would have no arguments against this.

If some files are reused which is the case at least for footprints I guess it would be good with a tool to search for there it have been used. For this to work the user have to know where files are stored but if the user do not where the files are it will not work.

I have a simulation on the other screen but maybe some day I have some time to write some real code also.
