Dear gEDA users,
the new stable release of pcb-rnd, version 1.2.3 is available as a source
pakcage at repo.hu:
http://repo.hu/projects/pcb-rnd
The tendecy continued and this release contains commits from even more
developers and contributors than previous versions. Without listing all
names, thanks for everyone for the excellent work!
The main focus of this release was to solve feature requests older than a
decade and make all layers editable, including the mask and paste.
This is not done by some kludge hacked on the side of the legacy
layer code, but by a major rewrite of it (started last year) and by a full
rewrite of the layer draw code for these new, compositing layers (mask,
paste, silk). In our native format, lihata board v2, all details of the
full layer stack is saved.
There are a lot of smaller and larger new features and fixes too; for a
longer list please check the changelog at
http://repo.hu/projects/pcb-rnd/releases/changelog-1.2.3.txt or for a real
exhaustive list, check the svn logs.
Testing and bugreports are welcome. Feature requests of active pcb-rnd
users are acted upon.
Quoting the release notes:
****
Among the usual bugfixes, the following major features have been added:
1. Plugin system rewrite; the original system, mostly consisting of code
inherited from mainline, was unable to handle plugin-plugin dependencies,
couldn't distinguish between "available" and "should load". Switched over
the whole plugin system to puplug.
2. Editable mask and paste layers, using positive/negative, auto/manual
compositing layers. Silk layers can be composite too, with manual-negative
layers removing auto silk generated by elements. (Not yet available with
opengl rendering.)
3. Gtk: new layer selector widget in top window and cross-section view
upgrades to expose the new composite layer features of the editable
layers.
4. eagle board import - special thanks to LA3PNA (Thomas S. Knutsen) for
supporting the implementation

Best regards,
Igor2
