I tried Kicad once.  I didn't like the way the GUI worked.  Silly
analogies aside, the two toolchains work differently, and people choose
whichever one works best for them.  Just because they don't use the
tools the way YOU use the tools, and just because you don't understand
why they're using the tools, is no reason to drive them away.

gEDA existed before Kicad - I would say *their* strength is going to the
places that gEDA can't.
