While this goes against knee-jerk new-age feel-good (and apparently
highly hyphenated) logic, I respectfully submit that this is not always
a good thing. Sometimes a project needs leadership and direction, not
just random competition (read: mud-slinging) by random people. People
letting their ideas compete is what got us in the mess we're in now.
