Generally, whether a hole or slot is plated or non-plated comes down to whether the data for it is in the plated drill/slot file (often called .TXT), or the non-plated drill/slot file (often called -NPTH.TXT). The script can be applied to either/both. (The exception to "generally" is Altium, which uses comments in the excellon file with a special format to mark whether the holes/slots are plated/non-plated. I think this is a TERRIBLE solution).
