Hi all,
thanks to Dima Kogan, pcb-rnd is now in Debian sid:
https://packages.debian.org/sid/pcb-rnd
It's version 1.1.4, which is 1.1.3 plus a few bugfixes. It has almost all
the new features (as the upcoming 1.2.0 will be mostly a
cleanup/refactoring release with only a few new features).
A short list of some of the most important new features pcb-rnd in
sid has compared to the pcb-gtk package:
- advanced search using a query expression and/or a wizard
- property editor dialog (select objects, ctrl+e)
- kicad compatibility (save as, load; footprint import/export)
- more shared code in gsch2pcb-rnd and import schematics, optionally
easier process with gsch2pcb-rnd (load net and new elements at once)
- the new config system with system/user/project/design level settings,
priorities and generally much more control over the configuration settings
- optional project file concept that provides configuration that
both pcb-rnd and gsch2pcb-rnd understand; a project file can change any
setting, not just gsch2pcb-rnd-related ones; it is intended to be shared
with the schematics editor later on (gschem is less likely to follow, so
it's probably for cschem)
- parametric footprints and the cleaned up footprint lib
- gedasymbols.org integration in the library search window
- unlimited number of routing styles, routing styles can be deleted using
the GUI
- optional new native file format: lihata board
- more exporters, including svg, specctra-dsn and ipc-356-D
- more importer: specctra-dsn
- more feature plugins: teardrops, polystitch, polycombine,
distribute/align objects
- optionally indicate shorts with the minimal-cut algorithm, instead of
highlighting random pins/pads
- cycle drag (select which object to drag when clicked on e.g. a shared
endpoint of multiple lines)
- Robert Drehmel's on-point patch
- back annotation (although there is no support for this in the official
gschem distribution, only in a gschem fork)
...and more
The package for 1.1.4 is not modular yet, it's a monolithic executable
with all features and the GTK HID compiled in, much like the pcb-gtk
package. Hopefully we can get plugins into separate packages later.
Testing and constructive feedback are welcome.
Regards,
Igor2
