It seems noone remembers what these settings are for, so I'm "closing this 
thread". The conclusion for pcb-rnd is that I will move them from the 
"user configuration" area to some dark corner and mark them as "we don't 
really know what these do, changing them will probably have unforeseen 
side effects".
