Subject: [geda-user] rolling feature poll (pcb-rnd)

Hi all,

I'm still doing cleanup cycles (next release is on its way), but I already
see the end of the tunnel. After finishing the cleanups, I have the choice
to implement new features in pcb-rnd or to switch to cschem.

I decided to start a rollling, non-one-time vote about the new features.
I especially try to focus on which features would make users to invest
time in testing/using/supporting pcb-rnd on the long run (as I don't have
high/direct demand on these features as an user so I wouldn't implement
them for my own amusement). I wrote a crude CGI that can collect and
store the votes:

http://igor2.repo.hu/cgi-bin/pcb-rnd-poll.cgi

If you are a PCB user, please take a few minutes to visit the page and if
you like any of the features, please make your vote (it takes only an
email address to do so).

I am also open for new feature/bugfix suggestions in email (list or
private). This time I do _not_ take votes in email. I probably won't join
futile rehash-discussions on details of "the usual" features (e.g. file
formats, blind/burried vias), especially if I see the sender did not sign
up for testing.

The system remembers your previous votes and you can change (or even
revoke) your vote any time. It's a rolling poll: new features may be
added in the future. If a feature gets enough score and testers, I contact
the potential testers to validate their email address and will to test
before implementing anything.

TIA,

Igor2
