You can use "pcb --verbose" but I'm not sure how much it will help. There are two places to look for messages: the message log, and stdout. If you're running pcb from a window manager, try running it from a command window instead. You can also invoke the import command manually using "gnetlist -g pcbfwd foo.sch"
