I would say even if gerber have proble handling negative polarity workaround is done today for copper layers and work so it would make sense with cut out in pcb/gpcb. I think a cut outs width height would make sense for footprint court yard it would "say" space is needed and if placed on internal layer it would cut thru material above it.



I also discovered Acamco realeased a new gerber specification first of January this year.
