as well as being able to generate footprint text as line elements, the
utility:

can now be given a command line argument in decidegrees specifying how much
rotation counter clockwise should be applied to the rendered text.

This functionality has also been rolled into the utility:

https://github.com/erichVK5/KicadModuleToGEDA

allowing kicad modules with rotated text elements to be converted to gEDA
PCB footprints, complete with rendered text.
