why do there need to be numbers on pins in schematic at all? Another =
work flow be to add the numbers by gnetlist there may still be numbers =
in special cases then there is a need to distinguish pins with same =
name. Purpose of netlister then doing layout is to assign footprint pin =
number but then doing simulation there is no need to assign footprint =
pin number.
Gnetlist mainly navigates the design via refdes, pinnumber, and netname. =
It can=92t function properly unless the user provides refdes and =
pinnumber. However, if the user doesn=92t provide netname, it just =
assigns one. It seems to me that the approach would be more consistent =
if gnetlist also assigned unique refdes and pinnumber values if those =
are missing.
Providing sensible defaults for missing data would be generally useful. =
There are, for example, symbols like spice-options-1 that need a refdes =
as a handle, but the actual value of the refdes does not matter. Having =
the user provide the refdes is just an unnecessary complication. It can =
cause confusion in case of a duplicate. Another place where a lack of =
default is clumsy and ugly is in the net=3D attribute. Couldn=92t the =
pin default to =931=94?
