Which option would waste time? The option to use one of two dialogs, or the additional checkbox?

Another possibility is to only have the docked dialog at the bottom of the window. Then, provide a single button with a gear icon. Pressing this button opens up a pop up menu with all the checkboxes and radio buttons.

But, there would still probably need to be a dialog for find and replace.
