fair enough.

How does the problem show?

Well, gerbv is really just a viewer. If everything works as expected,
you don't needed it in the design flow from circuit idea to the
physical board. There are alternative gerber viewers available for
windows. Wile gerbv is nice to have, I would put this on low priority.

Just to avoid potential misunderstandings: I am fine with doing the
cross compile and packaging myself. In fact, I would actually prefer
this to a precompiled binary. At the Institute für Quantenoptik we
would roll an installer for distribution and make it available to the
general public. Note, that we did this before back when the nightly
builds by DJ were still an option.

There are guys at my place who would certainly agree to test on real
world projects.

Just mail a zip to me: knaak AT iqo DOT uni-hannover DOT de
I will put the files on my public server. In addition, I would offer
the binaries to the fellow who is engaged in making a ready to use
windows installer.
In parallel, I'd be glad to set-up a working cross compile tool chain
at my place. That's why I asked for the patches.
