It depends on which libraries and functions we use in the project. We
have to follow main distributions such as Debian in order to not be
thrown out of them.

I tried hard to finish reading of libtool.info, without success yet.
You can find some initial concepts there, if you'll want to read it :)
I don't know if any not so large howto exists.
