Yes, and this is a bit strange. What does it accomplish? If you want to edit the attribute, you can promote it. If you don’t, why promote it at all?

The whole idea of “promotion” is a bit clumsy and confusing. Wouldn’t it be clearer just to have “default” and “edited” attributes?

Then there’s a little failure of orthogonal design: gschem cannot edit an embedded symbol. If it could, pin swaps and one-off modified symbols could be easier.
