I created one of the OpenSCAD export  filters (you created the second 
one, do I recall correctly?) - it was supposed to be successor of the 
VRML export filter, with very promising results. The last version 
(sleeping on my hard drive) is quite usable, including some library 
components, documentation, example... get it here:

(apply to curent master/HEAD and rebuild), out-of-box example here:

But:
-  I see the feature branches as kind of cemetery for improvements. 
Nobody - except author - know about them and nobody uses them. Until 
they are not included in mainstream, these improvements have no chance 
to live.
-  Core developers claimed that they are working on some very universal 
and very complex 3D export/interface, so there is no need for toy 3D 
exports like OpenSCAD. It happened... June 2013 ?
-  Lately core developers announced that they are going to refactor the 
PCB code and all these feature branches including OpenSCAD exporters 
(these were explicitly mentioned) will be removed.

I do not see any motivation to waste my limited time on PCB features...
