I still have to find an explanation for that which is a bit more elaborated than "That's the way it is...". In my understanding, it can't possibly be for series resistance reasons, and thermal resistance also is pretty unlikely as it would be so much more convenient if a heat sink could be attached to ground. Plus, having the bulk of the semiconductor die electricallly connected to the drain would make the manufacturing process more complicated (=expensive), which also seems extremely unlikely in a mass market product. Do you guys have an idea on why that might be? Best regards, Florian
