When you need to share your work, you can make a project repository directory for the symbols used in a design and reference those. To make sending this to others easier, compress the project directory and subdirectories into a zip file. A single file is not enough information about a design the way I do them -- the local .gschemrc and .gafrc files are needed as well as local footprints and symbols dirs. I create new symbols in local directories and copy those to libraries for reuse later. I also like the idea of revisions and authors of symbols with the same name for purposes of sharing them. Otherwise, it is easy to accidentally get something unexpected with the same name from anyone else you are sharing work with. John Griessen
