I just got aware, that the licensing issues of open cascade have been resolved: http://dev.opencascade.org/index.php?q=node/908 Consequently, the 3D modeling application freecad, which got banned from the repos due to license incompatiblity has been re-included in Debian. This is relevant to geda, since a very viable way to connect pcb to the world of 3D CAD is an import/export filter to freecad. Proof of principle code of such a filter was presented to this list about a year ago. However, development seemed to have slowed down. I hope, the resolved license issue inspires new efforts toward a usable version of the filter. ---<)kaimartin(>---
