Speak for yourself.

The point is that as good as pcb is for you and me, new users compare
it with whatever else they know, and do not understand anything about
the advanced features.

Yeah, and none of that is mutually exclusive with a modern intuitive UI.

I think you're just afraid that someone will take your toys, but there's
no reason for that. I don't expect someone else to write a GUI for me
but I do think it is quite meaningful to be aware of what the rest of
the world does.

New developers have to come from somewhere.
