I'm still keen, but Christmas has now got in the way..

I have started out with a pile of re-factoring to find.c which has
helped me remember how this all works, and think about what we might do
w.r.t. extraction.

There is still ideally, a fair bit more re-factoring to come, including
(if I can make a clean API to re-expose some of the private parts of
find.c appropriately), moving DRC checking into different source
file(s).
