Indeed I miss this too. This was commit 764c3560a722c768a7048f5c70811ec363862882
which you hopefully can revert.
Since around this commit the ratsnest also behave strangely when moving
components. If I remember correctly, they had a proper rubber banding
behaviour before I updated, and it is no more the case, but this may have
been caused by another patch.
While we are at it, I think that "O" should be rather a "ratsnest on"
option. Processors are fast enough nowadays, and reoptimizing the ratsnest
everytime you draw a line or move component would not be that expensive.
In this case "E" should become a "ratsnest off" command.
