So far I couldn't imagine to work _without_ the log. How else would one 
find out wether all rats are done?

Perhaps we could agree on a dialog on file save. A dialog popping up 
just because a track temporarily falls across the board would be nasty 
very quickly.

Not so many options please. Each option causes more maintenance work for 
developers and diverges habits of users.

For my part I like applications which give a clear path on how to do 
things. Why? See my first paragraph of this message. Options have to be 
learned and learning takes time which could be used for more productive 
works.
