There actually is such a list: geda-help AT delorie DOT com . This is supposed to
cater new users. However, traffic is slow compared to here. Last summer,
it was down to less than ten messages per month.
(Unfortunately, the archive lacks overview features. You can get a list of
the posts on a particular day, but not in a month. Search is restricted to
four days from present. Unlike geda-user, this list is not mirrored at
gmane. So their comprehensive archive does not help.)

There was a developers list for a long time: geda-devel AT seul DOT org
Originally, this list was open to everyone. Over time, it developed into a
sibling of geda-user AT seul DOT org with discussions spanning both lists. In
2009 geda-devel got restricted to developers only. As a consequence, this
list got quite a bit quieter. About a year ago, when the mailinglists at
seul.org were shut down, geda-developer was moved to launchpad. Since then
the list got _very_ quiete --> six posts during the last six months:

As a user since 2005 I too find documentation a weak spot.
