There is also .pcb/preferences, which is read and written by the GTK-
GUI of PCB.
Last time, I took a closer look, the options in .pcb/settings and
.pcb/preferences were treated quite inconsistently, though. Some are
read form settings, some are exclusive to preferences. Some are only
read from settings if they have not been set in preferences before.
PCB writes these to .pcb/preferences on exit, even if it had not been
changed . On next load the value from preferences take precedence over
the value in settings. I was not able to deduce a general rule.
This refers to the (default) GTK-GUI. IIRC, the lesstif-GUI does not
deal with the preference file at all.
