Ah, looks like I will have to resort to manually making my polygons with
thick traces, or the easier cut-out method described by Colin.
For the record, the command on my version of pcb (Ubuntu 12.04 repo- PCB
version 20110918) is "ClrFlag(selected, join)" not "ClearFlag()".
Those patches from Peter seem very useful. Unfortunately, Im a bit
under the gun at the moment and do not have the time to spend working
through them, but I will definitely have a go at it when things here
settle down.
Also, I have noticed, that when laying my ground tracks on the component
layer (with the join flag set), the ground polygon only floods where the
track is located(makes sense as I am writing it). Thus, each ground
track layed must be wide enough to completely encompass the pad in
question, otherwise there will be some clearance between the pad and the
final ground plane when the ground polygon is made. Just a note to
anyone else new struggling with this issue.
I want to thank all for the quick and extremely informative replies.
