MTBF reliable or false alarm reliable ? Considering the low current you're putting through the reed switch I expect it will last a long time. How reliably it detects the pouch being opened depends on the reed switch, the magnet and how they're physically located. I'd use a small, strong rare earth magnet to ensure the switch doesn't false trigger. For really low power, why not wire the power supply for the entire circuit through the reed switch so that power is only consumed when the pouch is opened ? Stephen
