Sounds like a good-enough-solution. Perhaps, you could put pointers
to treeviews in an own GList. Sou you just have to walk trough one list.
There are some tooltip functions in GTKWidget. Haven't tried them out,
but you should have a look at them.

I don't know, who is saying such things and there is no
reason for speaking against GTK+. Free Software needs
contributors. If you find something annoying you, then fix it.
GTK+, Qt and WxWidgets need contributors, besides
KDE, Gnome and gEDA. Saying, some of them are dead,
is like saying you don't want to contribute.
