the best option is to build gEDA/gaf from the git repository. This way,
you always have the latest fixes:

http://wiki.geda-project.org/geda:gaf_building_git_version

You can also build the latest stable release, gEDA/gaf 1.10.0:

http://ftp.geda-project.org/geda-gaf/stable/v1.10/1.10.0/geda-gaf-1.10.0.tar.gz
