I have downloaded the gschem 1.9.2 source code and compiled it with no problems on my Linux Mint 18.3 x64 system. All work perfectly, I think it is probably best to compile from source code rather than relying on pre-compiled binaries. I have also compiled pcb-rnd with no problems. Thank you for your help.
