From the sounds of it you want to mount it vertically. In gschem, select the part so it is highlighted. Right click and choose EDIT. Go down to 'add attribute' and click on the drop down menu and choose "footprint". ACY100P will give you the spacing you are looking for but you may have to do something about the lead size. It may be too small. The problem we have is you don't seem to understand the concept of foot print. It is how much space the part takes up on the board. The same part comes in different packages so the program doesn't know which until you tell it. Think of it this way. 1K ohm resistor? Through hole or surface mount? 1/8W or 10W. A 1K ohm resistor can have dozens of foot prints. Adding a few should help you start to understand that so try it and it might make more sense. Then we can help you refine what you want to do. At some point you will simply want to print the board out actual size and see if it makes sense.
