Ok, if you have '(undo-type "disk")' in your gschemrc (it is in
system-gschemrc by default) you can find gschem's temporary files in
$TMP/ or /tmp/ (if $TMP is not set), which are saved every time any
change is made. Moreover, you have autosaves every two minutes by
default in the current directory where you run gschem. Isn't this enough
for you?

BTW, Pcb-designer is kicad's pcb layout program, as far as I know. The
gEDA's one is called just 'pcb' (Native English speaking people like to
write its name as PCB, though in my native language, that is Russian,
uppercase letters often mean abbreviations, which PCB is certainly is).
