Another workaround I've heard mentioned on the list when you want
two separate-but-connected nets is to short a 2-pad SMT footprint
line a resistor footprint using TEXT, since text is ignored by DRC,
so this short will not cause pcb to complain.  E.g., use a '-' or
'|' character or something that will contact both pads of the
resistor footprint.
