OK, I'll try tomorrow. I understand you are cross-building from Linux?

I have tried on Windows XP with --target=arm-linux-gnueabihf which builds 
fine (including readelf.exe) but the resulting as.exe generates object files 
that ld.exe cannot recognize ("file format not recognized").

Obviously, this scenario was never tested...
