About Win98SE:
You need to install esdi506.pdr patch to support correctly the LBA48
drives. Then you may work with large FAT32 partitions. I have two
192GB FAT32 and no problem. USB drives are handled different way (mass
storage is something like SCSI protocol) and it shouldn't be affected.
I use 1TB external USB drive as well. But there are bugs in windows
scandisk and defrag, it works on 192G partition but not on 1TB. I
guess that FAT is too large or I don't know. I use Norton utilities
anyway. For partitioning I used PQ Magic.
