POSIX is a standard for a unix-like environment. DJGPP supports as
much of POSIX.1 (library) and POSIX.2 (utilities) as it can, so that
people trying to port software from Unix environments to MS-DOS will
find it easy, while at the same time being as compatible with other
MS-DOS compilers as possible.
