No, that's quite certainly not the message you actually got.  Not
unless your machine is infested by a very nasty virus that kills one
third of all vowels appearing in console output...

That said, your understanding of what you're doing seems confused.
One doesn't usually "make" makefiles, one runs them (through a program
called "make") to make other things.
