Sorry for the error in my early morning message.  The package
building was corrupted by the presence of `install.gcc' from
the earlier build of gcc-3.4.2.  It produced a weird mix of
files, although the executables were all from 3.4.3.  Once that
was removed, and the directory `gcc-3.43' refreshed, everything
worked as it should.
