I'd hang out in the first group for a few weeks before venturing into
the decidedly less newbie-friendly c.l.c, if I were you.  :)

Read the newsgroups' FAQs, lurk for a while, browse through the archives
in the rotting husk that was once Google Groups, and get the lay of the
land before posting.
