My thanks to one and all. There are several ideas here that seem to be
promising, especially the one from Brian Inglis.

The comment from Eli Zaretskii sounds as though it would probably work too,
though i am not familiar with the interrupt. Maybe I'll find it among Ralph
Brown's interrupts.

With the info I have, I'm sure to overcome the problem.
