Please report the *exact* error message.  "Looks like" isn't good
enough.

We've been over this recently --- the problem is almost guaranteed to
have nothing to do with DJGPP, your pwd.exe program, or CMD.EXE.
Something in your XP box's DOS subsystem is seriously messed up.  You
have to find and fix it.
