Running under DOS7 (win98 DOS without windows itself running),
with no more than himem.sys resident. environment variables in
autoexec.bat etc have been setup as recommended in documentation..

Had the same problems under dos 6.22

havent tried this yet. will do. Rumours are that rhide is extremely buggy.
