That's because the OP has a port of Fileutils built with the (as yet
not released) DJGPP library v2.04, which implements Unix-style
symlinks.  You have Fileutils built with DJGPP v2.03, which only
supported symlinks for executable files, and the `ln' port generated
such ``symlinks''.
