hmm,  .. searching google for "undelete under windows"  revealed :

here is a free undelete utility for Windows,
only for files <64K , 2MB :

even then undelete might work at least
for parts of the program.  
When scandisk can do it
then other programs should also be able to.
Scandisk searches the whole HD
AFAIR, which can take hours.
Yes, I had to do it too :-(, but that's some
years ago
