Run ScanDisk and see if, after it finishes, there are any *.00? files
in the root directory of the drive where that file once lived.  If
there are such files, one or more of them could have the text in your
.c file.

If that doesn't help, look for some program that can find text in the
areas of the disk that don't belong to any file.
