Not the filesystem, but the data in the actual file can be corrupted
just as easily with this method as with the more usual one.
If you're just writing a rather long version, so you plough beyond
the previous version's Ctrl-Z, and power fails before you reach
the new Ctrl-Z position, you'll end up with a file with no Ctrl-Z
in it, and thus no way of knowing where it actually ends.
