Directory $prefix/lib/gcc-lib/i586-pc-msdosdjgpp/3.3.4 must be present when
building gcc-3.3.4 as cross-compiler for DJGPP. It is perhaps created if build 
is run as root (I haven't verified it for a rather long time), but user 
normally don't have enough privilegues to create it.
