It would help tremendously if you'd post here the full message printed
when the program crashes, complete with the registers' dump and
SYMIFY'd backtrace.  If, as you write, there are several different
types of crashes (GPF, stack fault, etc.), please try to post an
example for each one of them.

FYI, the DJGPP FAQ list includes in section 12.2 some info that will
help you to interpret the crash dump messages.
